Our StoryPop's Sunset Grill is one of Western Florida's favorite dining landmarks - well loved by locals and tourists alike for its casual atmosphere and fresh local fare. Year after year, customers gather from near and far to relax and enjoy the view overlooking the Intracoastal Waterway while they enjoy good food and friends.
Pop's has been in operation for over 30 years, in what was originally Ubaneks Fish House and Pop's Tropigrill Restaurant. Since then, Pop's Sunset Grill has grown to become one of the most popular restaurants and night spots in the Venice area. In November of 2001, Pop's was purchased by new owners who were a group of individuals brought together collectively during the 2002 Olympic Games in Salt Lake City. As friendships developed, the group decided that when the event was over, they would partner together and purchase a bar/restaurant to give them a common reason to stay in touch. Pop's seemed like the perfect place! Some of the owners are local to Nokomis and have lived here for years, for others it provides an oasis. Each with their own family, they all visit Pop's on a regular basis.
Pop's Sunset Grill is easily accessible, just over the bridge from Nokomis Beach or a short drive from the Venice or Sarasota area. You can even pull your boat right up alongside the dock! No matter how you get to Pop's you won't be disappointed. Your taste buds will thank you while you are entertained watching the boats cruise by the Intracoastal Waterway. We have both indoor and outdoor seating with views of the water. On a clear evening, sit back, relax and sip on one of their signature libations as you watch the moon glistening on the inlet waters while enjoying a taste of "old" Florida. So put on your best flip flops and walk, boat or drive on down to Pop's for an experience to delight all of your senses! Large parties are always welcome!
